About Us

Who are Karen Outreach
and Isaiah 58 Ministries?

This ministry was started by the Adam’s family—Paul and Lena along with their children: Emily, 21; Maria, 18; Anna, 11; and Josiah, 9.

Our story is a long one, full of trials and God’s grace. We are not a perfect family, and we don’t claim to have reached God’s standard for our lives. But we praise His name, trusting in His righteousness to cover our filthy rags. We find ourselves often making mistakes and many times we have to kneel at the foot of the cross.

We claim: “It is of the Lord’s mercy that we are not consumed, great is His faithfulness….”  Lamentations 3. We are striving for higher ground. May the Lord help us.

This ministry is about God’s love for fallen humanity that has extended to our family, and that our family in turn wants to spread to a persecuted and often forgotten people group.

If you are interested in how it all came about; the following is the story of how God has led us:

God prepared us for service through many trials and hardships. There was a time when we would have loved to be missionaries, but God said, “not yet.” Then when God’s time was ready, we were not! “We are too old, too tired; we can’t deal with the heat, Lord; our children are not perfect; we are not perfect; we don’t have either the education and skills, or the talents needed; Lord, we are building our perfect mountain hideaway, on our beautiful land; our home is almost completed; what if our children get sick and die, or we do?” .…Excuses….

Then the call came. The Lord impressed upon our hearts that we were serving self, and that it was time to get away, to give it all up, to trust God to be our all in all. Providential leadings happened, and doors opened and closed.

We made plans to go to India, as that was where our hearts and contacts were. Someone had invited us to go help at an orphanage there. We decided to prepare ourselves for the work ahead with some short intensive medical missionary training. Looking for a place for such training, our feet were clearly directed to Wildwood Outpost Center. When we were there, one of the teachers said: “I feel impressed to ask you if you would please consider going to the Thai- Burma border to work at a mission school in Burma. Would you be willing to pray about it?”

Yes, we prayed fervently to the Lord to make His will clear to us. Within a day or two the door to India was forcibly closed.

We're going to Thailand. From that moment, every single detail concerning us getting here was providentially and clearly marked out. How beautiful it was to have assurance beyond doubt of God’s will. And how very assuring it has been in times of sickness and trial to know that we are in God’s will.

In our need of a way to receive tax-deductable donations, Jesus4Asia came to our aid, offering to open up an account for us through their website and ministry. We are very indebted to Jon and Natalie for their support and help.

The Thai Mission helped us with our visa needs.

We are not on our own doing this work, but are working together with the native staff and teachers to create a place for God to be honored and exalted.

Pastor Phamor of EOP Missions is always there for us with counsel and advice, and so are several other Karen pastors.

Ben Sharon is someone, who’s counsel and advice regarding the work, we highly esteem.

We praise the Lord for His faithfulness! Where would we be without His continual blessing? What could we do without such a mighty counselor and God?
